The Department of Continuing Education (Dept. of CE) is part of a multi-focused organization supported by the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis through the Hospital Sisters Healthcare System (HSHS).  The Dept. of CE was developed with a mission to support lifelong learning and professional development for nurses and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals throughout life continuum.

Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is a growing concern across the country. Often healthcare professionals in the rural Midwestern regions are not aware of the severity of the problem that may exist within small communities. This educational program will increase awareness of the reportable signs of someone that may be a victim of human trafficking, as well as increase awareness of resources available.

Healthcare providers and students of all disciplines and faith traditions are invited to attend in order to learn to recognize that conflict serves as an opportunity to gain insight and understanding. Identify potential causes, manifestations and negative impacts that can result from conflict. Describe skills that can be used to resolve conflict effectively. Apply skills to resolve conflicts while displaying respect for others and preserving relationships.
Guest speaker: Dr. Ann M. Garrido, DMin is an associate professor of homiletics at Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis.
