The Family Nurse Practitioner track is designed for students who have completed an accredited BSN program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 and satisfactorily complete a graduate level statistics course within the last five years with a grade of B or higher.

The master's program of study consists of five core courses of online learning with student requested face-to-face meetings. After completion of the core courses (15 credit hours), the RN learner continues to a specialty track of either Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Nursing Administration and Leadership. 

Family Nurse Practitioner 
Hybrid program with a combination of online and in-seat (Lecture/Lab/Discussion)
Program details:
  • Yearly Fall enrollment.
  • Course scheduling is flexible, using blended methods; classes meet one day a week (Fridays) after completion of the pre-clinical courses.
  • The program includes two major sections:
    • Pre-clinical courses that provide a core foundation for advanced practice.
    • Clinical courses build on the pre-clinical foundation and add knowledge and skill used during direct clinical experience.
  • The curriculum includes 45 credit hours, including 660 clinical hours and 60 simulation hours under the guidance of expert faculty members and preceptors. Preceptors and clinical sites are arranged by the school for the students.
  • Full-time plan of study – 2 years, 6 semesters.
  • Part-time plan of study – 3 years, 8 semesters.
  • Completion of the BSN must have been within the last five years or if received longer than five years, the applicant has to have practiced as an RN within the last two years in order to enroll.
  • Dual admission program for students wishing to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with the University of St. Francis.
